argument #03 is the third instalment in cage suburbia�s series of argument ep�s, as well as their first 12� vinyl release. it shows the duo of haunter records� co-founder daniele guerrini (also in heith) and matthias girardi (aka weightausend) raising the confrontation level to a new high. mixing their technoid barrage with jungle breakbeats, noise and dub techniques at various bpm speeds, they do not fail to deliver the usual amount of radical acid distortion. as with the other two �arguments�, this ep represents a heavy anti- authoritarian stance in both sound and concept. �rob the bank. kill the guards : sampling klaus maeck�s pirate cult classic �decoder�, cage suburbia openly call for cultural infection and street-wise spiritual resistance. this is punk rock for the paranoid age, insurrectional party music, intelligence research for the funnier side of destruction. as always, it�s been cut and edited from a series of improvisations on hardware samplers, drum machines and various sound sources, recorded live from a stereo output. comes with a set of stickers to incite riots in your neighbourhood.

first time i heard this track out was d.jing with adrian gibson, booker/manager for the london jazz cafe in its hay day in the early 2000s, i thought it was some crazy obscusre early jacksons 45. i had no idea what it was but i liked it and it stuck with me. as my eyes were on 45 s at the time it passed me by until numero group reissued it on their fabulous soul messengers compilation (essential purchase if you don t own). after quite a bit of badgering rob sevier, co-owner of numero group, let this grace my format of choice, so here we are, both sides first outing as a single.

can t joke with dexy is the opener here and is a bumpy, edgy house cut with tense and nervy keys jangling above a roughshod drum line. it grows ever more dark and comic and things roll on before faith is a more breezy, airy house groove. the drums here dance a nimble dance, thin synths and emotive chords all come in rich layers and a lo-fi percussive line proves how frey can conjure up idiosyncratic sounds with ease. like its title suggest, ghosts is a hauntingly atmospheric track with icy hi hats, pixel thing and hugely melancholic chords and harmonic bells all adding a sense of calm and serenity to turbulent drums deep down below. lastly, scale is a sub 100bpm crawler with fat elastic synths strung up between lazy kicks. two filtered spoken word lines add plenty of weirdness to this soupy bit of cosmic seduction and round out an ep that is stuffed with fresh ideas and great sonic invention.

one year has passed since the pilotwings� first output « agorespace ». expectations went further in 2015 as they contributed to the rave-ish j-zbel project. the pair is now back on bfdm with another ode to rurality and old-fashioned analogue. including 4 tracks, « molitor 71 » goes deeper into retrofuturist nostalgia and bucolic mood. a1 31 septembre (on va tout niker) introduces full-on panflute melodies and uplifting korg exotica. as the trancy chicago dream fades out, a2 les invasions babar unveils its weird combo of electro beats and massive patrick cowley-esque synths. unplanned bass moves lead this jam while an undertaking voice calls for no less than « the greatest experience of your life ». things settle down on the nocturnal b1 congo libre. focus on breakbeats and sophisticated rhythms evokes trance beats, while sparkling synths emerge from everywhere. the ep ends up with a floating ambient piece called buruganda ouverture and designed for the listener to rediscover the meaning of his existence. molitor will give you faith in humanity and flutes again.

we re glad to say welcome to renè for our second wax. with his residency@circoloco in ibiza since years, he had the chance to play at some of the best gigs in the world. his track anything has a unique touch, with a lot of warm and deep pads that match perfectly with bassline, doing a beautiful atmosphere. renè on the keys never fails, that s what we say! alessandro di maria aka sossa is another italian resident dj of circoloco in ibiza. he worked with a lot of amazing artists like mass prod, quenum, subb-an and many more, especially with his own label garbant wave. his track toga is what we call a trip, ranging from minimal beats to deep pads and chords. certainly this one makes the right job in the warm up! we re happy to have the young talent giacomo trevi in the b side. with releases on claque, superfiction, etruria and more, his track voyage has a powerful 909 groove, with an old school pads and some detroit influences in the chords.
